Education & Resource Center

This center is a foundation for all other activities that are currently taking place at the Agency. It's the first activity that ASDI started with then the rest came after some times as a result of Agency's growth and expansion.

Other sectors that came up as a result of this include:-
  • Civic education programme.
  • Computer training center and Internet cafe.
  • Community REFLECT classes

Below is a photo showing students from one of the schools in Apac district who had visited the center

Below is some people from the community revising at the Resource Center

OTHER SECTORS UNDER THE RESOURCE CENTRE

  • 1-COMMUNITY REFLECT CLASSES

Regenerated Freirean Literacy through Empowering Community Techniques (REFLECT) is anew approach to adult literacy which is one of the major activities of ASDI in coalition with Action aid International, Apac Branch. This was first piloted in six partner groups who were already practicing Functional Adult Literacy, (FAL).
However, after a review, REFLECT was found to be more participatory then FAL because in the new approach, it’s the community to identify their problems, conceptualize and come up with the solution.

Some of the Topics covered during the REFLECT TRAININGS.
    1-Water and sanitation
    2-STDs transmission
3-Effects of early marriage and defilement

    2-CIVIC EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY PROGRAMME

This programme is being implemented in collaboration with Ms Uganda. This has actually taken anew trend because it’s a whole year programme unlike what it use to be in the then days where emphasis was only put during election periods only.

    Activities done here include:-

    1. Sensitizing the community about their rights and to know what to demand from their government
    2. Building tolerance in prevention of power abuse by using practical democracy as a tool for success.
    3. Democracy in the Eyes of the children
    4. Roles of civil societies in Fostering Democracy.
    5. Cartoons for every days’ democracy
